Description
The IAAO's recent Assessment Industry Compensation Survey found that 48% of respondents will be retiring within the next 9 years. Although these findings were for the United States, government valuation offices across the world mirror this finding and are facing very similar challenges. Succession planning is a critical issue that will need to be addressed in the next decade within our global industry. This session will cover the key findings of recent IAAO research including the 2016 Compensation Survey and emerging technology trends for use in everyday operations and best practices. Future and anticipated personnel needs including an expanding interest in professional development will be highlighted. Future expectations of how our work will be done and will transform due to technology will be explored. Expanding use of GIS technologies in everyday operations and valuation development will be discussed as an example of new trends. This session will target how valuation information could be shared to communicate new ideas and best practices to colleagues globally while the future of education delivery will also examined. The presentation will demonstrate IAAO resources that can be used to facilitate individual career planning, professional development and office-wide succession planning. The session will conclude with an audience participation component, symposium participants will be asked to 'share their success stories' in strategic planning and personnel development.
