Brief Session Description
Southern California is home to some of the most highly valued property in the country. However, the region is also home to one of the most earthquake prone areas in the continental United States. This presentation will explore the mechanics of earthquakes, their history in California and their impact on assessments. It will also cover the City of Los Angeles’ new seismic safety laws (the strictest in the nation) and emerging technologies being developed to protect structures and their inhabitants from the next “Big One”.
