Description
Environmental Equity using GIS for Mass Appraisal is a class that will examine the principles and applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies in the context of environmental equity for assessments and appeals. Students will learn the theory and application of GIS across a variety of disciplines and will apply that knowledge to the Appraisal processes of assessing and equalizing values of properties for taxation purposes. Students will explore how GIS can be used to take into account factors such as natural landscapes, existing infrastructure, and ecological values to produce equitable assessments of land use rights. Practical applications of GIS tools, as well as visual mappings and analysis techniques, will be addressed in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of GIS-based massed assessments
