Protest & appeals: A defense of commercial values in non-disclosure states

Presenter Information

Damian Lara
Teresa E. Lopez

Start Date

Description

The assessor is responsible for the proper annual valuation for each property. Following the law and defending valuations presents a unique challenge in non-disclosure states. Because sales prices play a large role in determining property value, assessment professionals in non-disclosure states are often at a disadvantage. The use of informal negotiations and settlements presents a first opportunity to set current and correct assessments.
