Description
In Demark a number of different taxes are related to immovable properties. The most important are the property tax to local government and the income tax of imputed rental of owner occupied dwellings. Valuation of all properties is carried out each 4 years, and in years between valuations all values are updated using factors roughly reflecting the price development. All basic information for the valuation are now in computerized registers. Computer systems have also been introduced to calculate the land values and to estimate the total values. The computer systems have increased the quality of valuation and also resulted in considerable reduction of the costs. The public sector can now have on-line access to the public data bases. Beginning in 1987 real estate agents and others can access the values for all properties. Later the building information and the Land Registery will be accesible. The Danish computer systems for valuation are considered to be among the most advanced systems in the world. The demand for information about the systems have been large and Danish experts are now employees on projects in the Third World.
