General Session Description
Maintaining separate data systems across departments slows operations and hinders transparency. The City of Chesapeake now offers a single platform where users can access parcel, assessment, tax, and other key datasets, either through a straightforward search or a more advanced filtering interface. This dual access workflow lets city staff quickly retrieve key data, allows real estate professionals to build comps using spatial overlays and detailed filters, and gives citizens an easy way to explore their community. This session will demonstrate how blending simple search and robust filtering tools in one web site increases efficiency, improves data access, and supports all stakeholders in meaningful ways.
