Brief Session Description
Nick Talbot is the CEO of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) – a position he has held since July of 2016, following on from an interim role in 2015 when he led a restructure of the organization to increase it’s technical expertise and global impact. The IVSC is brings together experts from around the world to produce International Valuation Standards. It covers all asset classes and is recognized in different ways by the World Bank, IMF, UN, as well as corporates and influential professional bodies who qualify appraisers. It engages at the highest levels of regulators in the US and around the world in order to improve and give confidence in the approach to valuation. It is overseen by an independent board of global leaders. Before working at IVSC Nick was a global director at RICS and held non-executive roles, having worked for much of his career in a variety of international senior management roles at Ernst & Young and KPMG. Away from work, Nick dedicates time to raising profile and money for Cystic Fibrosis charities across the world including in the US and Canada. He has featured in various documentaries, television, radio and news outlets in the UK and the US, and has received a Point of Light Award from the UK Prime Minister. Part of his profile and fundraising has included world first mountaineering attempts for someone with Cystic Fibrosis, he was very lucky to survive the world’s two worst disasters on Everest in 2014 and 2015, and will be with us to also tell us about these experiences and what he decided to do next.
