Abstract

A cooperative effort among public and private agencies, cities, and counties can increase the utility of a geographic information systems (GIS). By identifying the agencies that have the functional responsibility for a data set and giving those agencies the resources to develop, maintain, and share that data, county and municipal agencies will be able to leverage their resources and streamline their operations.
