Location adjustments for agricultural land using the geostatistical capabilities of a GIS

Abstract
The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency has been valuing parcels of agricultural land in Saskatchewan by grouping them into economic neighborhoods. A key concern with this method is the sharp change in value along the neighborhood boundaries. Modeling using the geostatistical capabilities of geographic information systems has been demonstrated to successfully resolve similar concerns for both residential and commercial property. This article demonstrates that these same techniques can also be used to remove the sharp change in value between neighborhoods for agricultural land.
