Journal of Property Tax Assessment & Administration
Abstract
Every public service organization faces questions regarding staffing levels, budgets, and workloads such as parcels per appraiser or parcels per employee, and cost per parcel. Assessment offices are no different. The purpose of this report is to relate the findings of a survey of staffing in assessment offices in the United States and Canada by IAAO in 2013. The survey was organized in four sections: Jurisdiction characteristics, Agency or company characteristics, Resources available to the agency, Administrative policies and procedures. The last IAAO survey of staffing patterns was conducted over a quarter century ago, in 1986.
